CHS students left their sixth hour classes on Monday to attend a rock concert presented by Fire for Effect, a National Guard rock band.

The band played several classic and contemporary hits, most being rock or pop songs. Some songs played during the concert include blink-182’s “All The Small Things,” Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” Paramore’s “Ain’t It Fun,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Castle on the Hill.” The music wasn’t the only highlight of the show, however. The band’s dance moves and crowd interaction had students laughing and cheering wildly.

The band also invited students to sing along with them during the performance. Some students who sang with the band include Amber Mitchell during “Your Love Is My Drug,” Elliana Hughes during “Ex’s and Oh’s,” Mikayla Watkins during “The Middle” and “Ride,” and Willis King during “Bad Romance.” Hannah Duncan was also a student who sang with the band, and she was called on multiple times to sing. The songs she sang with the band were “Bad Romance” and “Blank Space.”

Overall, Fire for Effect’s concert was a big hit among both the students and the staff, all the while giving everyone a fun excuse from class.
