CHS Experiences Mock Wreck

On Friday, April 6th, CHS students left their sixth hour classes to attend a mock accident scene. The mock accident was a demonstration of a wreck caused by a drunk driver and included six RSA students.

In the accident that was portrayed, Abby Holmes and Caitlyn Holmes were driving home from a restaurant with their mom, Ms. Asher, following behind. When Abby and Caitlyn got to an intersection, a car of four students; Jose Pompa, Kyra Philbert, Evan Sidebottom, and Jacie Daugherty; ran a stop sign and hit Abby and Caitlyn. The students had just left a party and were drunk. Jacie Daugherty, the driver, sustained minor injuries and was arrested for being intoxicated while driving. Evan Sidebottom was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene, and Jose and Kyra both sustained injuries and had to ride in the ambulance to the hospital. Abby died on impact while Caitlyn was severely injured and was flown to the hospital by helicopter.

With prom being the next day, teachers and administration wanted every student to know that some choices can be deadly. Some decisions could impact your future or end your life others’ lives.
