Review “Weapons of Thrash Destruction” by Terrifier

Luke Vanamburg, Writer

Terrifier is a Canadian Thrash metal band with one album, the excellently titled “Weapons of Thrash Destruction” which was released in 2017. This album is an excellent example of New School Thrash metal. Out of all the Old School Thrash metal bands from the 80s, they sound like a lovechild of Testament and Overkill. The guitarists play in standard E tuning and still have a constant pounding sound to them, something difficult to achieve especially in 2017. Terrifier has a collection of great riffs and most songs do a great job in keeping the listener’s interest without sounding repetitive The vocals have a clear hardcore punk sound to them, with a good blend of low growls and high screams. The drums never really sound out of place, either.
Overall, the album is worth checking out if you’re into thrash metal. My only real complaint with it is that, while each song does a good job keeping the listener’s interest, each song sticks to the band’s formula so there isn’t much variety to them. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you enjoy one song you’ll most likely enjoy them all.
