How to Survive Your Freshman Year

Kayla Horton and Kyle Currington

Coming into high school as a freshman can be hard and scary. Walking the halls of a new school on your first day might be confusing. Don’t be afraid of asking for help or asking questions. The upperclassman will not stuff you in a locker, put you in a trash can, or make you do their work. These tips will help you survive your freshman year and help you make friends along the way.

  • Don’t procrastinate or you will get behind.
  • Being friendly with everyone is the way to make friends.
  • Get involved in activities, clubs, and sports.
  • Study and go to PASS. You can get extra help, finish homework, and make up tests in PASS.
  • Be yourself and be original.
  • Don’t give in to peer pressure.
  • Stay out of the drama.
  • Go to your counselor if you need to talk about anything; they’ll always be there to listen.
  • Get organized so you don’t lose your things.
